In Season

I never pay too much attention to lawns. For a forager, they are a barren landscape devoid of most edible wild plants, especially when mowed to two inches or chemlawned. During this recent record breaking heat wave people have been telling me their lawns look like they usually do in August: dead and brown. So I thought Id post a photo of a neighbor’s lawn that I took yesterday and then again a photo of my edible meadow…lavender bergamot, yellow wood sorrel, dock seed, small common milkweed pods, chicory flowers, asiatic dayflower and more…NO WATERING, NO FERTILIZING, NO AERATING….homeowners associations…think again!!!
